About this course:
Many parents in the rejected position will be familiar with the abusive strategies which are used to manipulate and terrorise children into the alignment and rejection response which is the indicator of attachment trauma in divorce and separation. The familiarity comes from having been subjected to that same behaviour, not only from the parent who is overwhelming the children, but from the behaviours experienced in childhood at the hands of your own parents.
One of the most complex positions to be in, is to have suffered narcissistic abuse at the hands of your own parents and then to be in a situation where you are helpless to prevent your own children from the suffering the same after divorce and separation. The helplessness, guilt and psychological overwhelm which is the result of this double bind position, leaves many parents in the rejected position in despair. Being trapped between the past and the present in terms of having been controlled by your own parent and then being controlled by your ex and your child(ren), can feel like an impossible place to climb out of, but you can do so when you know how and when you do, you can build a new way to respond to your children which helps them to escape from the narcissistic abuse they are suffering too.
Working with Karen Woodall, who has extensive psychotherapeutic experience in healing narcissistic abuse, you will learn how to stabilise and anchor yourself in a strategy, which at once strengthens your ego (sense of self) and reduces the psychological overwhelm which keeps you from being able to help your children. As you develop a stronger awareness of what has happened to you and why, you can begin to build an internal working model of self which responds to your children's needs over time.
This course is for any parent who experiences psychological overwhelm, which shows up as anxiety, disorientation, disassociation and despair in the face of children's rejection. It is for parents who want to use therapeutic parenting skills but feel that building their own foundational recovery will help them to do this more effectively. The course offers you unparalleled access to expertise in real time helping and healing of alienated children using a co-therapy model which is proven to be effective.
Please note that this course is focused entirely upon the foundational recovery route from narcissistic abuse which is seen in some parents in the rejected position, particularly those who have suffered from coercive control/domestic abuse/ emotional and psychological abuse by the parent to whom the child is aligned, as well as those who have suffered the same in childhood at the hands of their own parent(s).
This course involves 14 hours of direct, online, therapeutic work with Karen Woodall, and 4 hours of recorded watch-at-home content.
The course can be undertaken alongside other courses to offer a supplementary route to building confident therapeutic parenting skills.
